  • The Grassland Ghosts box is a tribute to Southern California's diverse native grasslands. Come Spring, soft swaying bud stalks burst open to flower until Fall, when they shimmer and gently wilt into autumnal earthy hues. We love the tactile nature of this box where sweet, spicy sage crunches beneath the feet, and sumptuous, lumpy savannah-like grass seedheads tickles up the thigh.

Grasslands once cocooned much of Southern California. Today, grasslands cover over 40% of the planet. In SoCal, centuries of livestock over-grazing [link to vegan blog] wiped out swathes of our native species. The Grassland Ghosts box brings back this coveted wildlife habitat into your own yard using North American & Californian prairie natives. In the wild these grasses grow golden much of the year, but in partial shade they retain their green longer. In the garden, a bit of water helps these drought tolerant plants keep their tint and tone through hot seasons.
