Powder Puff or Fairy Duster Calliandra's are a large fast-growing South American and Western North American native with soft, ferny foliage, powder puff-ball blooms and moderate to light water needs. They grow best in hot inland & SoCal climes. But can also preform well in coastal and temperate settings. They are a seriously soil-improving species. Which means using their mulch in the garden when pruning helps to improve soil fertility. They take happily to shearings and offer privacy fast. California native varietal is much smaller and slower growing to 3-5' total in size.
