Grevillea's are a large fast-growing Australian plants with soft, ferny foliage, buxom conical blooms and minimal water needs. They grow best in hot inland & SoCal climes. But can also preform well in some coastal climates (i.e. Oakland). To survive this plant needs good soil drainage. To thrive and prevent yellowing give applications of chelated iron 3x year. Grevillea 'Long John' (red flowers) and 'Moonlight' (white flowers) grow rapidly to the size of a small tree (8-15' high and wide). Grevillea 'Peaches n Cream' grow to 3-5' tall and wide making a perfect thick small hedge. These fabulous flowerers bloom almost all year making them a hummingbird favorite plant. They take happily to shearings. Do not hard prune (cut woody branches) in cold seasons.
