Grevillea's are a large fast-growing Australian plants with soft, ferny foliage, buxom conical blooms and minimal water needs. These fabulous flowerers bloom almost all year making them a hummingbird favorite.
'Moonlight' (white flowers) grows rapidly to the size of a small bushy tree. 8-15' high and wide. Making it a perfect thick hedge.
To succeed this plant only requires you ensure soil drainage is adequate. This means adding a few inches of gravel to the bottom of your planting hole to ensure roots get good air flow during rains.
Climate: Grevillea's grow best in hot and warm coastal climates (from San Diego to Oakland). They'll struggle in cooler coastal climates unless planted along a South or West facing wall.
Maintenance: They take well to being sheared in warm seasons. Do not cut woody branches in cold seasons. To thrive and prevent yellowing give applications of chelated iron (a liquid soil additive) 3x year. This helps these particular Australian plants uptake the nutrients they need in foreign soils.
