ALT LAWN ULTRA - Groundcover Sod
Out of stock
A sustainable lawn alternative at a quarter of the cost of artificial turf. Water ONCE A WEEK after first 3-6 months of establishment. Turn off the water altogether in the winter. And NEVER MOW (unless you'd like to remove the bee attracting flowers in spring). Stays to a max of 2" high in sun, up to a soft 4" in shade. Spreads rapidly and is soft as carpet on your feet.
Dog Friendly. Deep rooting and party hosting perfect. This groundcover is unstoppable once established (but don't worry it's also sterile so won't spread by seed and is not invasive). Sure, it creeps. But it stands up to dogs, sports, parties and a good amount of neglect.
Weed regularly in the first year.
Why is is so much more expensive than conventional lawns?
Kurapia is a patented Japanese-venture-capitalist owned plant. We are verified legal sellers of the most popular groundcover lawn in Japan. (It grows up dirt walls btw)
Whiz-bang Japanese technology meets California native groundcover in an all-time alternative lawn wonder. A California native "weed" hybridized with a sterile Japanese groundcover that charms bees, grows low and goes months without water in the cool season.
If you over water, alt lawn ultra will tell you by sprouting a carpet of tiny white blossoms bees adore. You can mow the blossoms if bees aren't your fav, or reduce watering until blooming recedes (we recommend those with bee allergies or serious concerns in this department steer clear).
Roll out the carpet! Here comes your new lawn, ready to walk on lightly after installing and to let the dog on after 4-6 weeks.
Delivered in trays of 72, plugs fill in for full ground coverage in as little as 3 months. If planted during their dormant season (Nov-Feb) they will not start spreading until temperatures warm. Quantities listed are for 12" centering. For faster coverage space 8" or 10" apart (increase your square footage order by %30 or %15 respectively).
