General: Manzanitas are beautiful, slow-growing California native trees. Often scene hanging off incredible slope edges or tucked up against dry shrubs, they grow well in the garden where soil is adequate. Howard McMinn in particular is more tolerant of average garden conditions.

Grows to 5-8' tall and 3-5' wide. Deep red peeling bark and light smooth green leaves. Bell shaped blossoms. Evergreen. Requires excellent soil drainage. Avoid wood or bark mulch of any kind within 3 feet of trunk.
